The U.S. Forest Service is conducting prescribed burns in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests (C-ONF) this spring, including planned burns for areas near the Appalachian Trail (A.T.). The A.T. will remain open, but hikers should be aware of the burns in case they come across fire crews or see/smell smoke. Hikers should follow all directions from fire crews and posted signs. Use caution with camp stoves and practice Leave No Trace campfire building.
